Kangaloon House

Residential alterations and additions

Kangaloon House – The brief for this project was to re-imagine the existing cottage and allow us to create better flow through the house, and improve the connection to the outdoors and garden. The existing cottage had undergone various renovations and had received ad-hoc additions over the years. An existing splayed wing on the western side of the house was demolished to make way for a new pavilion which has been designed to capture the views (and spectacular sunsets) over the Wingecarribee Reservoir.

A portion of the existing cottage was retained and brought back to life with extensive internal works, new windows, fresh cladding, and a new gable roof to match the new works. Re-pitching the existing roof over the cottage and garage allows the buildings to read as three linked gabled-pavilions, which complements the rural surrounds of the property.
